Camden Enhanced Strategies
The Camden Enhanced Strategies seek to generate returns in excess of an investment index.
We currently manage portfolios benchmarked against the S&P500, the S&P400, the Dow Jones/AIG Commodity Index and a balanced index. The firm has also managed an enhanced cash strategy with an objective of generating returns in excess of a cash index. Each of these Enhanced Strategies has generated attractive returns relative to their respective benchmark. (Past performance is not indicative of future results.)
We construct each client’s portfolio by separating the source of return into two components: an index segment and an excess return segment.
Generally, we seek to replicate the returns of the applicable index by employing passive index futures. We then endeavor to generate excess return through a portfolio of primarily hedged convertible bond positions. Conversely, the excess return portion of the portfolio may also perform negatively, causing the portfolio to underperform the applicable index.
Due to the idiosyncrasies of the hedged convertible bond asset class, the excess return component of the portfolio typically behaves with a low correlation to both interest rates and equity indices.
Portfolios are generally comprised of approximately 80-100 hedged convertible positions. The Camden Enhanced Strategies do not employ any balance sheet leverage.
